inDplay signs on major Hollywood film library Allied Artists as part of its professional rights licensing marketplace.
SAN FRANCISCO and LOS ANGELES, CA - October 11, 2006 - inDplay.com, the licensing marketplace for film, TV, and video rights, and Allied Artists Corporation, a content provider with more than 20,000 titles in its library today announced an agreement that will enable Allied Artists to provide their programs to film and television presenters globally using the inDplay video rights sales, acquisition, and management platform. Allied began acquiring titles in the early 80's, and over the past few decades, has purchased large portions of well known libraries, such as the classic GNP, Monogram, International Film Forum, Productions Unlimited Libraries. . Many of these appeared on television or had theatrical releases in the United States and internationally.
Andrew Stern, Allied's general counsel explains, " Allied has been consistently selling our most well-known titles, a fraction of our total library. However, our founder was originally inspired by the desire to make all of the titles available to audiences worldwide." Allied's challenge was that it was not economically viable to prepare the materials and proper licensing agreements to sell such a large library into multiple platforms and territories.
According to Goetz Weber, CEO of inDplay, " Professional film and video content, regardless of when it was produced, is an asset. Outside of the blockbuster hits and recent releases, there are an enormous number of quality, professional films that are not being monetized. At the same time, audiences around the world are demanding more precise content choices across viewing platforms. Libraries of vast unsold inventories of films and videos have not generated their true value. inDplay makes it possible for rights holders to efficiently turn these assets into meaningful revenue. These media assets will drive revenue again and again with our on-line licensing management system. "
Last week, Allied agreed to make all of its films available on inDplay for worldwide licensing to theater chains and individual theater operators, Cable TV programmers, educational institutions, Home Video, Mobile/Handheld devices and Internet/VOD distributors. Currently 200 of the titles are listed on inDplay and more are being added daily.
" Not only are libraries able to list their film and video content and present available rights for sale, but buyers who sign up with inDplay can easily acquire the rights that they desire directly from the inDplay marketplace," says Weber. " By lowering the transaction costs and streamlining the acquisition process, inDplay solves a key business problem for rights holders and acquirers. I would like to invite other rights holders - filmmakers, production companies, distributors and studios, to utilize the inDplay marketplace to maximize the value of their films and videos."
